The 8th UK Taiko Festival will be held in Exeter from the 29th June – 1st July 2012. We are looking forward to bringing together the ever-growing UK taiko community as well as growing numbers of taiko fans and players from Europe and beyond. This will be an exciting three days of inspirational taiko performances and workshops with two concerts in Exeter’s fabulous Northcott Theatre.

A Feast of Taiko
With an emphasis on younger players from all over the UK, including some special guests from a certain American university group, this concert takes place on Friday 29th June in the Exeter Northcott Theatre.
Applications to perform here are now closed, thank you.

Taiko in the Park
This year Taiko in the Park is moving to Piazza Terracina – just across the river from the Quay this is a busy shopping area with galleries, shops, cafes and restaurants. There’ll be a large, raised and covered stage for a two-and-a-half hour free show. Applications to perform here are now closed, thank you.

Saturday Night
In the wonderful Northcott Theatre, Kagemusha Taiko, from Exeter, will perform a headline 60 minute show with some special guests. Support will come from the excellent, London-based Taiko Meantime. This combination combines to form what will surely be an event not to be missed.
Taiko Sunday
As for the last two years, Sundays performances will be in the relatively informal setting of the Quay. Applications to perform here are still open. Contact us for more details.
Sunday Workshops
If you want to learn some taiko during the UK Taiko Festival, there will be taiko workshops for beginners and more advanced players in the Exeter Phoenix on Sunday mornings. More details to follow shortly, but contact us if you’re interested in coming along.
Please email UK Taiko Festival director for more information.
